Penelokan Travel Guide

Penelokan offers a natural panoramic view of Lake and Mount Batur and is shrouded in breathtaking scenery that draws visitors every day.

The cool mountain breezes are literally a breath of fresh air in the heat of the Indonesian sun and the beauty of the landscape is the main reason to make the long trip from the capital of Bali, Denpasar. In 1917, black lava erupted from the Mount Batur volcano and destroyed the villages in the area.

Penelokan sits a massive 900 meters above sea level and its name translates to ‘a place to look’, which describes it perfectly. Adventurers will enjoy climbing the peak to get a better look at the crystal clear water of Lake Batur and the mountainous backdrops. There are often fruit selling stalls on the nearby roads and there are some spectacular sunsets to be witnessed from the village.
