How to Get to Ölüdeniz#
Ölüdeniz is a coastal resort in Muğla Province best reached via Dalaman Airport (DLM) with a short onward transfer to Fethiye and then a local dolmuş or taxi. Antalya Airport is an alternative with longer road transfers.
Dalaman Airport (DLM): Dalaman is the closest airport to Ölüdeniz and the most common arrival point. Shuttle buses and private transfers run from Dalaman to Fethiye (approx. 45-60 minutes, shuttle ~TRY 150-300 / ~€6-15 depending on operator and season), then local dolmuş (minibus) or taxi for the short 20-30 minute ride to Ölüdeniz (dolmuş ~TRY 25-50 / ~€1-3).
Antalya Airport (AYT): Antalya is a larger airport with more year-round flights but is farther away (around 3-4 hours by road). Private transfers or long-distance buses run from Antalya to Fethiye/Ölüdeniz (fares vary widely; expect longer travel times and higher transfer costs than from Dalaman).
Train: There is no direct conventional rail link to Ölüdeniz; the nearest major railhead is Antalya for long-distance connections, but road transport is the practical option.
Bus: Intercity buses (Metro Turizm, Kamil Koç and others) connect Antalya and Muğla/Fethiye; buses to Fethiye arrive at the Otogar, from where minibuses (dolmuş) or taxis run to Ölüdeniz (dolmuş ~20-30 minutes, ~TRY 25-50). Bus fares from Antalya to Fethiye typically range from ~TRY 200-400 (~€8-20) depending on service and season.
How to Get Around Ölüdeniz#
Dalaman Airport plus a shuttle or taxi to Fethiye and a dolmuş or taxi to Ölüdeniz is the standard route. For full freedom along the coast rent a car, but local dolmuş services are cheap and frequent for shorter trips.
- Airport Shuttle / Private Transfer (€8-60) - Shuttles and private transfers are the easiest way from Dalaman Airport to Ölüdeniz - many hotels can arrange pickups. Shared shuttle minibuses are cheaper; private transfers cost more but are direct and quicker. Book in advance during high season.
- Intercity Bus (€8-25) - Long-distance coaches link Antalya, Muğla and Fethiye; they are comfortable and economical for longer journeys. From Fethiye Otogar take a dolmuş or taxi to Ölüdeniz. Night buses are common between major Turkish cities.
- Dolmuş (shared minibus) (TRY 20-60 (€1-3)) - Dolmuş minibuses are the common local public transport around Fethiye and Ölüdeniz - frequent, cheap and convenient for short hops. They run on fixed routes and fares are low; have cash in local currency (TRY) for drivers who may not take cards.
- Taxi (€8-25) - Taxis are plentiful in Fethiye and Ölüdeniz for door-to-door service, late-night trips or if you are in a group. Agree the fare or insist on the meter; expect a short trip from Fethiye to Ölüdeniz to cost roughly €8-20 depending on time and luggage.
- Car rental (€25-70/day) - Renting a car is useful if you want to explore coastal roads and inland attractions at your own pace. Roads are well maintained but parking in peak season can be limited; rental rates start around €25-60/day depending on season and car class.
- Walking - Ölüdeniz village and the lagoon area are very walkable; most beaches, restaurants and shops are within short walking distance. For coastal trails and higher viewpoints wear proper shoes and bring water and sun protection.
