Moganshan Travel Guide

Moganshan is a mountain resort town in Zhejiang Province. It makes for a very good escape from Shanghai as it allows all visitors to bask in natural beauty and sunshine during the summer.

It is, as you may expect, busiest during the summer months because the weather is nicest and the views across the region are panoramic. The air is much cleaner here than in the surrounding cities and all of the sights are focused around nature.

One of the highlights of the town is the park, which is located at the top of the mountain. This comes complete with walking trails and the chance to enjoy the abundant species of wildlife. Other attractions include a tiny village located just outside the town, complete with stone houses dating back over 100 years and a beautiful network of streams and waterfalls.

It is just 60kms from Hangzhou and 200kms from Shanghai. If you want to visit here, it is worth booking accommodation in advance, especially in the summer season. As with many towns and cities in the province, Moganshan is steeped in different myths and legends.

Getting There & Away

The best way to reach Moganshan is to fly to nearby Hangzhou and catch a bus from the airport. Hangzhou International Airport serves a range of domestic destinations a small selection of international ones. It is about 2 hours by air from Beijing and 1 hour, 55 minutes from Guangzhou. Moganshan is just over an hour’s drive from Hangzhou and about 2 hours, 30 minutes away by road from Shanghai.
