Moc Chau Travel Guide

Situated in the north of Vietnam, the pretty village of Moc Chau is surrounded by natural beauty. This is a good place to relax for a while and discover traditional Vietnamese culture.

Moc Chau is located on a high plateau, more than 1,000 meters above sea level, making it significantly cooler than much of Vietnam. A popular pastime for travelers is hiring a bicycle and exploring the countryside, stopping to take in the beauty of the sparkling waterfalls and cool caves that you encounter on the way.

The area around Moc Chau is home to a number of Vietnam’s ethic groups such as Dao, Thai, Mong, Kho Mu and Xinh Mun. This is a good place to learn about the traditional lifestyles and cultures of these groups and discover traditional skills.

Getting There & Away

The nearest airport is at Hanoi, which is 6 hours away by bus. Unfortunately, the only way to reach Moc Chau is by bus. The road is long and bumpy and there are regular buses from Hanoi (6 hours), Son La (3 hours) and Dien Bien Phu (4 hours).
