Loc An Beach Travel Guide

Loc An Beach is a quiet alternative to Vung Tau, lying just up the road from the famous beach in Ba Ria Vung Tau Province. It features that deserted windswept look with bungalow beachside accommodation.

The beach at Loc An is shaded by palms and virtually empty during the week; filling up noticeably during weekends when Ho Chi Minh City locals descend on the place. The swimming is not the best and there is little in the way of snorkeling, but it’s ideal for relaxing and comes with the obligatory beach huts for refreshments.

Loc An Beach also has a number of accommodation options that are right on the beach and come with cheap A-frame bungalows and interesting outdoor seafood restaurants.

Getting There & Away

Loc An Beach is not easy to get to by public transport, being set off highways 1 and 55. Local transport does run here from Long Hai however, and you can be here within two hours from Ho Chi Minh City. Those with hire cars and motorbikes go via the new Long Hai - Binh Chau road. Ho Chi Minh City Airport is the main gateway to southern Vietnam.
