Guoliangcun is situated at 1,752m above sea level.

The lofty Taihang Mountains are the setting for Guoliangcun, which is nothing more than a small village lying in a nature reserve. Although not far from Zhengzhou, Guoliangcun is very remote due to the rugged terrain. The road here is an attraction in itself; sliced as it was through the rock.

There are many established trails around Guoliangcun, along with a huge amount of terrain that is yet to be explored. The climbing is over craggy red sandstone cliffs although there are no climbing guidebooks to help you out. Locals with carts offer transport around the reserve and there is a modicum of accommodation.

Travel to Guoliangcun - Getting There

Guoliangcun is accessible via expressway and the S229 highway from Zhengzhou, before a series of mountain roads head up to the village. It is best done on a tour from Zhengzhou as buses don't run here direct - trains and buses go part of the way to Xinxiang. Xinzheng International Airport is the closest one, receiving flights from Beijing in about 1 hour, 15 minutes.
