Situated in the eastern region of Bali, Candidasa is a modern village where people come to soak up the sun on the beach and swim in the cool, clear water.
This former fishing village still has a somewhat sleepy feel to it, which for many is part of the appeal. Sun worshippers can choose between the laidback feel of Labuhan Amuk Bay or the more upmarket Balina Beach. When it comes to eating, Candidasa's restaurants are considered by many to be some of the best in the region, and there is plenty of fresh fish available.
When it's time to move on, many people choose to travel to Lombok and one of the islands just off the coast of Bali via Padang Bai, a ferry port located at the west end of Labuhan Amuk Bay. There are a number of pretty islands to explore and this is also a good way to spend a few hours before returning to Candidasa.
Most visitors to Candidasa arrive in Ngurah Rai International Airport. There are regular buses to Candidasa from Denpasar's large bus station (4 hours), and there are also buses to Sanyan from surrounding towns and cities such as Amlampura (30 minutes).
