Bukit Larut Travel Guide

Famous for being Malaysia’s wettest destination, Bukit Larut is a resort situated just over six miles from the town of Taiping in Perak. Dating back to 1884 and formerly known as Maxwell Hill, Bukit Larut is also the country’s oldest hill station.

At a height of 1,250 meters above sea level, the resort receives the highest volumes of rainfall of anywhere in the country, hence its soggy reputation. Plenty of rain, however, ensures that it’s also a green and scenic destination and its views are undoubtedly one of its greatest appeals.

The lush green foliage that carpets the hill is punctuated by the vibrant colors of a rich selection of flowers including roses, dahlias, daisies, marigolds, pansies, petunias and lupines.

Getting There & Away

Visitors will need to get as far as Perak then take private transportation (four-wheel drive) to the resort. There are several daily bus services from Kuala Lumpur to Perak and also train services operated by the Malaysian Railway Network. Kuala Lumpur’s international airport is the main gateway to the country.
