Wenshan Travel Guide

Wenshan, nicely situated in the southeast region of Yunnan Province, is surrounded by natural beauty spots such as picturesque karst peaks.

Wenshan makes a good base for hiking and trekking through the countryside. Although there aren’t many attractions in Wenshan itself, there are plenty of places to visit just outside the town. A particularly popular daytrip is Puzhehei, which is famous throughout Yunnan province for its abundant natural beauty. There are also plenty of traditional villages to visit, which make good focal points for hikes and treks.

Wenshan is a good place to visit during one of the local festivals, which are always vibrant affairs, accompanied by much singing and dancing. The Danu Festival is a good time to see the people as their liveliest, while the lotus festival and torch festival are also steeped in local tradition and provide an insight into the culture of the region.
