Virac Travel Guide

Virac is the capital of Catanduanes in the Philippines. It boasts stunning scenery of rugged mountains and craggy cliffs, with a handful of hills and fields in between. There are a number of manmade and natural sights to enjoy here.

There are many pretty beaches on the east and south coasts that are the base of equally lovely harbors and quays. The coconut palms dominate the jungle areas and there are rivers, streams, creeks and bubbling brooks as well as impressive waterfalls and springs that are perfect for visiting tourists to explore.

The Pacific Ocean runs adjacent to the east and south beaches and to the north, the lush San Miguel Mountains mark the border and to the west are the San Andres hills and rolling fields. There are decent roads systems, a harbor and an airport, which all help to add to Virac’s appeal.

Getting There & Away

There are regular ferry services between Virac and Tabaco city that take about 6 hours and if you are staying a little further out in San Andrew, there are also regular services to Tabaco that take an hour or less. There is an airport in Virac and flights from here to Manila are available four times a week with a flight time of 1 hour, 15 minutes. Manila is home to the nearest international airport.
