Mount Kanlaon National Park Travel Guide

Situated on Negros Island, this area of intense natural beauty is popular with hikers, who travel to the region to wander along the 40kms of nature trails.

There are a number of trails to choose from, ranging from the eight kilometer Masulog trail to much longer trails such as the picturesque Ara-al and Mapot trails, which can take a day or even longer. Many people take camping equipment and spend the night in the park, waking early to watch the wildlife.

The scenery of Mount Kanlaon National Park is always changing and there is plenty for hikers to see along the way, from two waterfalls of Sudlon and the Quipot Falls, to craters and volcanic peaks. Wildlife includes several species of lizards, parakeets and hornbills, making this a good place to practice nature photography.

The trails through the park are easy to follow, although a reasonable level of physical fitness is required. Although it is possible to hike alone, most people choose to travel in groups and it is easy to find a group to join at the entrance to the park.
