Luoyang Travel Guide

Situated in west Henan Province, Luoyang is a fascinating ancient city of temples, tombs, caves, and museums. It is well connected with the capital, Zhengzhou, and also has an airport.

Luoyang is only really appealing to historians, yet it has a nice look and feel and interesting traffic-free streets. Major attractions include the Ancient Han Tombs Museum, the Dragon Gate Grottoes, and the Luoyang Museum. The tombs are now a museum and the star Luoyang attraction, with tombs from the Western Han to the Northern Song dynasties.

Other popular attractions include the White Horse Temple (Baima Si) and the Guanlin Temple. Apart from the landmarks, Luoyang also comes with a long shopping street loaded with old shops. It also has a large choice of restaurants and one or two fun bars.

Getting There & Away

Luoyang is directly connected to Zhengzhou by expressway; a 2-hour drive. Buses are more common than the slower trains, yet you can get here direct by rail from Beijing in about 11 hours. Luoyang Airport is a few kilometers out and receives flights from Beijing and Shanghai. Beijing is about an hour’s flight time away.
