Huanglong National Park Travel Guide

Situated in the northern part of Sichuan Province, this large and lovely national park is popular with visitors for its natural beauty seen in its waterfalls, lakes and wildlife.

Visitors exploring the park will discover several mineral pools and lakes. There are also small waterfalls that are good places to swim in the summer months, although it can get rather cold during the winter. Most of the park’s wildlife is rather shy and visitors will need to be particularly vigilant to spot the various animals that live in among the trees.

There are several trails to follow through Huanglong National Park and it usually takes about four hours to complete a circuit of the park. There are no food or drink stalls in the park so visitors should bring plenty of water and other provisions. Take the time to explore Huanglong Temple and pause often to appreciate the park’s natural beauty.

It is possible to book a tour of Huanglong National Park in Chengdu, which includes transportation and a guide. Unfortunately, camping isn’t allowed in the park, but the close proximity to Chengdu makes it easy to visit on a daytrip and there are plenty of places to stay in the city.
