Cisarua Travel Guide

Blessed with a beautiful mountain backdrop and cool mountain air, the picturesque village of Cisarua is a great place to visit to retreat from the heat of Indonesia and chill out somewhere beautiful.

Cisarua's tea plantation was established in 1910 and covers 100 hectares, producing 2,500 tons of tea each year.

Cisarua is famous for its lush tea plantations and this is a good place to discover the art of tea processing. Gunung Mas tea walk offers visitors the opportunity to explore a tea factory, where a guide explains how the tea leaves are transformed from freshly picked green leaves to dark, dried leaves that are ready to be packed and shipped all over the world.

But Cisarua isn't all about tea. There are a number of other interesting attractions here such as a sparkling waterfall and Safari Zoo, where animals are allowed space to roam. There is plenty of entertainment for children, ranging from horse riding to kite flying and of course there are plenty of tea shops in and around Cisarua.

Although there is no real accommodation in Cisarua, Bogor is just 10kms away and there are plenty of good places to stay here. The walk between Bogo and Cisarua is particularly picturesque, and it is also possible to hire a bicycle and cycle through the countryside.

Travel to Cisarua - Getting There

Access is from Jakarta, where there is an international airport. There are buses linking Cisarua with Jakarta (45 minutes) as well as Bandung (2 hours). Buses also travel to the nearby village of Bogor, and many people like to walk from Bogor from Cisarua.
