Economy

Brunei is full of natural resources and the economy is very dependent on its oil and gas resources. Currently workers are able to retain their salaries as they do not have to pay income tax, sales tax or capital gains tax. The government is looking at ways to diversity the economy.

Education

The literacy rate in adults is 93 percent, rising to 99 percent for children.

Government and Politics

Brunei has been an independent country since 1984 and is lead by the sultan as well as a 21-member legislative council and a number of Supreme Court judges.

Healthcare

Brunei's health-care system is one of the best in the world, and there are plenty of government-run hospitals which offer free healthcare to citizens. Brunei also has a couple of private hospitals and standards are high in all establishments.
