Located in the central flat river plains of the Chao Phraya river, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya is a small province whose provincial capital is the historic and ancient city of Ayutthaya. While other areas of the province have little in the way of tourist attractions, Ayutthaya is well worth a visit.
Located 72kms (45 miles) north of Bangkok, the ancient capital of Ayutthaya is home to many ancient ruins and works of art that date back to the city’s founding in the 1350s. There are ample guesthouses and hotel options around the city, and bus services between the city and Bangkok run several times per day.
