Abolan Travel Guide

Abolan, or Aborlan, is a small place on the eastern shore of South Palawan in the west Philippines. It’s a second class town, home to the Tagbanuas people, and is good for a stop-off when heading south for Brooke’s Point.

Abolan has a particularly nice setting between mountains and the Sulu Sea and although the town is not much to look at, there are plenty of nearby attractions. Abolan’s main beach - Tigman Beach - is the main draw; a really wide and long beach which is never busy. It’s just outside town and lined with large palm trees.

Abolan was founded in 1910 and has the distinction of being the site of Palawan’s first agricultural university - the Western Philippines University. Be sure to keep an eye out for the curious spiral coconut in Abolan.

Getting There & Away

Abolan is 70kms south of Puerto Princesa, Palawan’s capital city, and the nearby Puerto Princesa Airport, the main airport in the province. Flights from Manila take an hour to reach Puerto - ferries 13 hours - and the trip from Puerto to Abolan is about 90 minutes by bus.
